Online recruitment continues to be a popular way to find jobs for many people, results of a new survey have shown.

A poll of over 4,179 people, conducted by Hays, found that 42 per cent of UK employees found their last job online, Logistics reports.

The method was also found to be popular in other countries, with 37 per cent of employees in Australia, New Zealand and Singapore also finding success through online recruitment.

Timothy James, senior regional director of Hays Logistics Personnel, highlighted that the internet is increasing as a “successful tool” for finding jobs.

“Eight years ago we conducted this same survey in Australia and at that time 22.5 per cent of employees found their last job online,” he said.

Speaking to Personnel Today last week, Carl Gilleard, chief executive of the Association of Graduate Recruiters, also said that employers are increasingly using the internet as a way of screening potential candidates.
