Case Study: Future Reliance Group

Finding a top salesperson (whilst saving thousands)
– a webrecruit case study

The client:

The Future Reliance Group provides a wide range of outsourced managed technology services. With offices in the UK and Australia, it has built up an enviable reputation for its turnkey managed IT support solution, serving growing businesses of all sizes.
As a result of doubling turnover and profitability in the last two years, a division within the Group, Future Reliance Ltd (www.futurereliance.com), sought to appoint an additional account manager for its Kingston office.

The challenge: sourcing good candidates and saving money

When it came to sourcing candidates, the biggest hurdle facing Group CEO, Ed Bodiam, was his reliance on traditional recruitment agencies to deliver top talent.  With quotes starting at c£3,500, traditional methods were expensive and didn’t always deliver the required response. It was apparent that an alternative was needed, and fast.
Ed then considered bringing recruitment in-house to alleviate the expensive cost associated with recruitment, yet he felt that the process of creating recruitment copy, identifying the right resources and sifting through applications would prove a drain on resources for the company.
It wasn’t until he came across webrecruit that he found a company that offered the best of both worlds – low fees and extensive reach into the growing talent pool, with a guarantee to deliver results. But was this new approach to recruitment too good to be true?

The solution: webrecruit’s offering

webrecruit is a leading, low cost online recruiter that uses the internet to access the growing talent pool.
The company’s low fees mean businesses can save up to 90% on their cost-per-hire. Their access to a range of online resources allows them to tap into the growing online candidate market, and hence enables their clients to benefit from a low risk approach backed by set service guarantees.

The process: finding top sales people

With new job seekers entering the market every day, Ed needed a recruitment service that allowed him to target a wider, more diverse talent pool whilst keeping costs down.
He said: ‘I realised more people use the internet to find their next job, but knowing how to target the good ones takes considerable knowledge and expertise. From the start, my assigned account manager talked me through the vacancy’s requirements and what kind of resources webrecruit would use to yield more targeted results, ensuring we got off to the right start.’
Throughout the period the vacancy was live, the team used a number of sales, IT and regional resources, including job boards and social networking sites, to give the role increased exposure. Behind the scenes, extensive database searching was carried out to connect with relevant, passive job seekers. These delivered a selection of shortlisted applications ready to look through.
Commenting on the short listing process, Ed said: ‘The team filtered them to match my requirements and bespoke screening questions, providing me with a range of CVs to consider for interview. I benefited from taking control of the process as I was able to identify the right person for the business earlier on.’
After a few weeks, Ed had managed to select, interview and offer someone a job. But then disaster struck, with the candidate unable to take up the offer. Luckily, he was covered by webrecruit’s unique service promise: the guarantee to fill your vacancy. The company immediately got to work, and started to find candidates again.

The result:

Ed benefited from the company’s service guarantee and is currently looking through CVs to appoint his sales account manager. By using webrecruit, he was able to reduce his company’s cost-per-hire whilst retaining control over the selection process.
He said: ‘I wasn’t prepared to pay traditional agencies £1000s and was willing to take back part of the process, if it meant making cost-savings. webrecruit delivered on both accounts. And whilst the candidate pulled out at the last minute, I’ve been incredibly happy with the webrecruit service. Their prices were favourable, and the team were incredibly responsive – even when I needed to adjust my requirements during the process. I’ve already recommended them to both internal and external contacts’.
