30.6.2008
Britain's Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has issued a warning to employment agencies in the Cambridgeshire area.
Confirming the implementation of spot checks from June 30th, the HSE is implementing action in an effort to ensure the protection of migrant employees.
The inspections will take place until the end of July 2008.
"Employment agencies should be made aware that inspectors from HSE and from all the local authority environmental health departments in Cambridgeshire are undertaking these checks over the next month and will follow up visits to the premises," said David Head, principal inspector for the Cambridgeshire area at the HSE.
The HSE has confirmed plans to identify work locations for migrant employees where they may be at risk from problem relating to a lack of comprehension and poor-quality induction and training programmes.
In April 2008, the HSE formally merged with the Health and Safety Commission.
