The video game development industry in the UK is looking to ease a skills shortage by using online recruitment methods, it has been revealed.

A new website is to be established by the National Endowment for Science, Technology and the Arts (Nesta) with the aim of enhancing the online recruitment efforts of companies in need of British-based video game developers.

The website is to be set up as part of a new £45,000 initiative called Raise the Game being introduced by Nesta in collaboration with the Independent Games Developers Association (TIga).

Tiga's chief executive Richard Wilson said: "Skill shortages are a major problem for games developers, and therefore I am delighted we can provide a range of human resource solutions for the games industry, including the recruitment of staff, job sharing and job swapping."

Michelle Jones, from the Simply Online Services company, told OnRec recently that online recruitment offers some significant advantages over more traditional methods of finding new employees.
