Poor recruitment policies 'costing British businesses'
23.7.2008
Poor recruitment policies and practices are costing British businesses considerable sums of money, a recent study has suggested.
A total of 700 companies were surveyed on behalf of Adecco and an average of almost six weeks worth of productivity was lost every time an employee exited their position.
This is a waste of resources that is not being fully appreciated by employers around the country despite the ongoing downturn in the British economy, Adecco insists.
Improving online recruitment and human resource efforts in general should certainly be more of a priority than is currently the case among UK firms, the report concluded.
"What we come back to time and time again here is that recruitment needs to be a science, as well as an art," said Adecco's managing director Steven Kirkpatrick.
"Businesses need to look very carefully at what they're spending, why they're spending it, and perhaps how they can avoid doing so in the first place."
Adecco claims to be the world's leading human resource solutions firm and to place 250 people into permanent employment in the UK each week.
