Workplace health schemes make job vacancies 'more attractive'
21.8.2008
When searching for jobs, candidates are attracted by health programmes aimed at improving employees' wellbeing, according to expert advice.
Oval Healthcare's divisional director Matt Millard has pointed out how such schemes can attract job seekers.
He said: "Studies have shown that employees value health benefits very highly when looking for a job, so they can be a useful tool in recruiting and retaining high quality staff."
Schemes in the workplace such as counselling and addiction assistance could also help to manage absence rates, according to Mr Millard.
The Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development's absence management survey for 2008 showed that larger and public sector companies are the most likely to implement health benefits, hrzone.co.uk reported.
A study carried out by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors recently revealed that 84 per cent of employees claimed that their work environment has had an impact upon their overall happiness.
