All-round communication is one of the tips offered to job candidates by a leading recruitment author.
Anne Watson, who wrote The Definitive Job Book - Rules from Recruitment Insiders, advised job seekers that "words are only nine per cent of communication", with body language playing a pivotal role at interview stage.
"Maintain good eye contact, smile and practise a firm handshake. Make sure you listen hard and respond intelligently," she told the Independent.
Ms Watson said that the most important thing for any potential employee to do ahead of an interview is to "be prepared in every sense".
As well as presentation, interviewees should read up as much as possible on their potential employers, what the business does and who is at the top, and how to actually to get to the location.
The Washington Post recently advised job seekers that it is important to meet a direct supervisor at an interview and to ask them questions about their own progression at the company.
