CIPD promises to stay relevant in 'challenging times'
17.9.2008
The Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) will stay ahead of change and be more relevant for employees, according to Jackie Orme, the new chief executive.
At the CIPD annual conference last night she said that "challenging times" had highlighted the need for change, Personnel Today reports.
Ms Orme said: "In today's business environment we have a huge opportunity to demonstrate our value and capitalise on change. The CIPD will be at the forefront of this debate."
The organisation will be launching research into the future of human resources next month.
It will also be focusing on making sure professional employees have the ability to adapt to the changing function of human resources.
This comes after Barry Hoffman, the central London branch secretary of the CIPD, told Personnel Today that the structure, constitution and operation of the CIPD needs to be reviewed.
