Prospective employees have been urged not to ask their interviewer how mush cash they can expect to earn.

According to a new set of guidance issued by itjobsforgraduates.com, inquiring about salaries is something of a faux pas when it comes to interviewing for an IT job.

A webcast offering tips and warnings to people pursuing a career in the technology sector has been set up by the online recruitment site, which is part of theitjobsboard.co.uk.

The accountancy firm KPMG has offered its expertise via the webcast and being well informed on how a potential employer operates is said to be of particular importance.

"Our aim is to arm university leavers with the knowledge they need so that they can find the position that is right for them - and give themselves a good starting point on the IT career ladder," said Teresa Sperti, marketing manager at itjobsforgraduates.com.

KPMG recently issued a report in cooperation with the Recruitment and Employment Confederation that suggested it is becoming increasingly difficult for university graduates in the UK to find jobs.
