A mass recruitment drive has been launched by the Government Communications Headquarters (GCHQ) which has adopted technology in its hunt for the right candidates.

GCHQ plan to utilise technology such as a new website, digital displays in the London underground, and "in-text advertising".

Aims of the campaign include giving potential employees an insight into working for the company along with highlighting their flexible working hours scheme.

The organisation's press officer Alan Thompson explained that the campaign aims to reach appeal to a wide range of candidates through its use of various channels including online recruitment.

Mr Thompson continued: "We are making a substantial investment in finding the right people to work at GCHQ. We offer a range of challenging and interesting work in an excellent working environment."

Another intelligence organisation, MI5, this week announced it was encouraging applications from gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender candidates dispelling former conceptions about their lack of suitability for the role.
