Employees who work for small businesses are more likely to be eco-friendly than those working for large organisations, new research has found.
Conducted by major energy firm E.ON, a survey of 1,200 UK employees found that those working for small or medium sized companies are more likely to recycle and turn off lights and computers than those working for big firms, greenbiz.com reported.
Over a third of respondents from small businesses said they had altered their routines through concern for carbon emissions.
However, two-thirds of workers from large companies said they feel they have little control over eco-friendly methods.
Jim Macdonald, commercial director of E.ON UK, commented on the findings: "Businesses seeking to go green must look at cutting the red tape their employees face in implementing energy-efficient work practices."
In related news, the Shell Springboard Programme is offering small businesses the chance to win up to £40,000 by coming up with energy-saving ideas.
