Employers becoming more flexible, says CBI
28.7.2008
Employers in the UK are becoming increasingly flexible in how they operate, according to the Confederation of British Industry (CBI).
The CBI's chief economic advisor Ian McCafferty insists that British manufacturing companies are better able to deal with economic problems because of the capacity within their workforce to adapt.
Many British companies use online recruitment strategies and manufacturers are always aiming to ensure that the staff they have in place are becoming more and more productive, Mr McCafferty maintains.
He said: "One of the features we've seen over the course of the last decade since the very sharp rise of sterling in 1998, has been a significant adaptation in terms of flexibility and in terms of productivity of the work force."
Last week, the CBI welcomed the welfare reform green paper published by the government, suggesting the plans could help its members in their online recruitment efforts.
