Employers urged to Retrain, Award, Retain
20.10.2008
Retrain, Award, Retain is the name of a new idea from Australia which some employers may want to adopt if they are trying to find ways to save money and fight the effects of the credit crunch.
According to Management Issues, the solution encourages businesses to train existing workers up for positions rather than wasting time and resources on hiring what could turn out be the wrong person for the job.
Employees also benefit in two ways. Firstly, they are not only reassured of their worth to management but they have the chance to gain knowledge and ability for further advancement within the company
Then there is the chance to boost CVs with extra skills that may put them ahead of other job seekers in the recruitment process if they should decide on a change of job.
Last week, Personnel Today spoke to Kevin Lovell who encouraged employers to find ways to cut the costs of training without compromising on the quality of learning for staff.
