Holidays prompt employees to 'reconsider careers'
18.8.2008
Nearly half of UK employees questioned in a recent poll admitted they considered changing their jobs upon returning from their holidays.
Travel website DirectHolidayBookings.co.uk questioned 1,500 respondents, 46 per cent of who said they thought about a career change after returning to work from a break.
Despite this, however, 87 per cent said they appreciated taking a holiday and felt it invigorated them.
The findings accord with information from recruitment firms, which claim that September is their busiest time of year, it was reported.
Director of the travel website Andrew Gibson said that holidays provide a good opportunity for employees to consider their lives and careers.
He continued: "It's only natural that, as they return to the daily grind, many people will suffer from post-holiday blues."
Research undertaken by Credant Technologies last month found that 83 per cent of 300 UK employees asked said they would take their mobile phones or BlackBerrys on holiday with them.
