Hotel recruitment is "business as usual"

28.10.2008

Hotel chain Travelodge looks set to contradict current recruitment trends as it opens 22 new hotels between now and Christmas, it has been reported.

According to Recruiter, Travelodge says that 450 new jobs will be created and a recession in the UK will not stop them from continuing with their plans for expansion.

Paula Rogers, managing director at hospitality staffing firm Admiral, believes that the economic downturn in the UK will not affect the hotel industry and it will be "business as usual" for the sector.

"People will still need to stay in hotels for business and pleasure. The world is not coming to a standstill. We are in recession but this country does not go to sleep," she said.

Another industry with positive reports about recruitment is the IT sector, which has experienced a rise in the number of job seekers taken on over the past two months, Hays Senior Finance discovered.
