HR professionals from last recession 'in demand'
18.8.2008
Those HR employees who weathered the storms of the 1990s' recession are reportedly being sought after as the possibility of another economic crisis increases.
Candidates working in the industry between 1990 and 1992, when the recession was at its height, are now in greater demand among headhunters and employers, according to Personnel Today.
Several UK talent consultant companies have also reported massive increases in their workload and demand for experienced professionals.
Speaking to Personnel Today Phil Sharp, managing director of Executive Headhunters, said: "We are seeing more requirements to headhunt HR directors who worked in the last recession, especially for people who have experience in change management."
The National Institute of Economic and Social Research predicted that the UK will escape recession but, up to 2011, annual growth will be as low as it was during the economic crisis of the early 1990s.
