Keeping track of how the skills of employees contribute to firms is essential to the successful maintenance of a business, a leading institute has claimed.

Major points to consider when monitoring employees performances include tailoring individual methods and obtaining support from management, the Institute for employment studies concluded.

The studies pivoted around workshops organized with 14 major UK firms, including the Royal Bank of Scotland and the BBC.

Dilys Robinson, principal research fellow at the Institute for Employment Studies, said: "Our participants all found great value in focusing their Human Capital Measurement (HCM) strategy around how people ultimately were adding value to the organisation."

She also commented that though it may seem difficult, monitoring the input of employees pays off for the health of businesses, onrec.com reported.

Meanwhile, a recent Lloyds TSB survey found that a third of 2,000 UK respondents felt their jobs were a lot less safe than this time last year.
