The recruitment sector is more stressful than any other in the UK, according to a report from Siemens and the Stroke Association.

More than eight out of ten recruitment professionals feel stressed on a regular basis and 73 per cent of all those polled by Siemens said their work tends to stress them out.

Other leading sectors when it comes to getting stressed include education, marketing and financial services.

There are many different ways to deal with difficulties at work and the Stroke Association is keen for people to take exercise rather smoke cigarettes or drink alcohol when their jobs get tough.

Joe Korner, director of external affairs for the Stroke Association, said: "Stress clearly affects a great deal of the working population and while stress in itself is undesirable, responding to it in the wrong ways can all lead to high blood pressure, which is the single biggest risk factor for stroke."

Meanwhile, life coach Lynette Allen recently urged people to work smarter and not harder in order to get more from their jobs and professional lives.
