Tougher interviews 'lead jobseekers to lie on their CVs'
6.10.2008
Many job seekers lie on their CV as employers make interviews increasingly difficult because of the limited amount of jobs, it has been suggested.
According to interviewgold.com 35 per cent of people confessed that they had sleepless nights worrying about being caught out during an interview the next day.
Joe McDermott, chief executive officer at interviewgold.com, highlighted the situation of Lee McQueen from BBC1 programme The Apprentice, who lied on his CV.
It was a "prime example of what a nightmare it can be when an interviewer exposes any discrepancies on a CV", he said.
Mr McDermott also added: "He was made into a scapegoat for the thousands of other candidates who are doing it."
As interviews get tougher the survey also revealed that 56 per cent of people worry about going blank when asked a difficult question.
Last month Online Recruitment reported that those looking to further their career and become chief executive officers needed to have a broad range of skills that allow them to work across different industries and positions.
