UK employers 'recalling offshore workers'

Employers are starting to recall their offshore IT workers to try and save money, according to new findings.
High inflation rates abroad mean that three-quarters of IT bosses said they would not be sending any staff to places like India to work, Contractor UK reports.
ReThink Recruitment, which conducted the survey, said it showed that offshoring was now no longer a "one-way street", as one in every three directors want to bring employees back to the UK.
Previously, offshoring had been used as a way to help reduce costs. However, in India the economy is now growing by about nine per cent per year.
Michael Bennett, director of the firm, said: "Spiralling wage inflation in offshore locations, combined with the project management cost of co-ordinating teams across international time zones, can eat into any cost savings."
Last week, campaign group Migrationwatch called for the UK to cap its intake of non-EU foreign workers at 20,000, personneltoday.com reported.
