Businesses have been advised that by synchronising to employees' body clocks, they could get the most out of them.

Jessica Alexander from the Sleep Council believes the addition of a power nap to the British working day would go a long way to helping workers feel healthier and brighter, Online Recruitment reports.

"I think what would be a much more [beneficial] thing for businesses to look at is finding out about their client's sleep patterns and body clocks and when they are at their best and offering flexi hours in that sense," she recommended.

Her comments followed research by Crampex which found that one in four employees in the UK take time off owing to exhaustion.

Some employers offer 'duvet days' to employees.

According to duvetday.org, if the nation stayed in bed for just one day, carbon emissions for that day would be reduced by 80 per cent.
