26.9.2008
Job-seekers looking to boost their CVs and impress future employers could do volunteering or work experience, it has been claimed.
According to Adecco Retail it is a great way for the unemployed to show prospective employers that they are eager and want to get back on to the career ladder.
Doing work experience can also be a good way to impress employers as it demonstrates skills and dedication, increasing the chances of getting a long-term placement in the future.
Steven Kirkpatrick, managing director of Adecco Retail, explained the benefits of doing voluntary work.
"Volunteering and work experience can be a brilliant way to refresh your CV if you havent worked in a while," he said.
Figures from the National Office for Statistics show that in the UK there are around 904,900 people currently claiming job-seeker's allowance.
