Demand for jobs 'remains high in some industries'

Demand for jobs 'remains high in some industries'

Online recruitment agencies may find that demand for jobs in certain areas remains high, despite the credit crunch, it has been reported.
The catering and industrial industries are still recruiting short and medium-term contractors which may be due to the fact that many migrant workers are now leaving the UK, chief executive of Blue Arrow Stuart McBride believes.
Some recruiters also think that the UK needs a flexible jobs market and that redundancies should be viewed as a last resort for companies, Recruiter reports.
This could mean that they are then able to take advantage of any economic upturns when the time is right.
Kevin Green, chief executive of the Recruitment and Employment Confederation, said: "It is critical that we avoid further barriers to employment."
Companies may also chose to use flat-fee recruitment services as a cost-effective way of finding employees as they try to save money during the recession.
According to Computer Weekly, there has also been an increase in the number of public sector IT jobs being advertised through online recruitment sites at the moment.
