Generation-Y job seekers may have different requirements to their older counterparts when searching for employment on online recruitment sites, a survey has found.
According to research by FreshMinds Talent, the Gen-Y population, or those born after 1982, value their salary above being given responsibility at work, Onrec.com reports.
However, they also expect more employee benefits and would take a lower wage if they had the opportunity to work from home, take part in training schemes or have flexible working hours.
James Callander, managing director of FreshMinds Talent, said the survey aimed to find out about the attitudes of younger people compared to older workers.
"This is critical if employers are going to understand what is required to engage this group of people that represent the future of their businesses," he added.
Marco Bertozzi, director of media and digital at TMP Worldwide, told Personnel Today that people spend up to 35 per cent of their time on the internet, suggesting online recruitment could be an ideal way for firms to hire staff.
