UK Job seekers using online recruitment sites to look for work may be among the millions of people who want to develop new skills to improve their employment prospects.

Research from the Association of Colleges (AOC) has shown that 21 per cent of respondents plan to gain more qualifications over the next year which could help them stand out from the competition during online recruitment campaigns, Recruiter reports.

Furthermore, 31 per cent of people claimed they want to take time during the credit crunch to train.

David Collins, president of the AOC, said: "Quite rightly people will be looking at the qualifications they have got and those they need to get to fulfil their future aspirations."

Similarly, many employees may be looking to the internet for work as 3.2 million said they plan to search for a new job over the next 12 months.

The Monster Employment Index yesterday revealed the use of online recruitment is increasing in the UK.
