Online recruitment agencies 'could provide the support job seekers need'

Job seekers experiencing difficulties finding employment have been encouraged to consider either traditional or online recruitment agencies as a way to help them find work.

Tom Hadley, director of external affairs for the Recruitment and Employment Confederation, believes e-recruitment agencies can provide the support needed during the current economic downturn.

Similarly, the job market is no longer candidate-driven as they no longer have the luxury of picking and choosing jobs and salaries when employment figures are low.

He also advises people that they are the ideal place to receive guidance and get "regular updates on what is happening in the jobs market".

Mr Hadley said: "Our advice would be not to despair; you just have to hustle a bit more to get the job that you want."

The monthly Report on Jobs publication, issued yesterday, showed that there has been a surge in candidate availability, driven by redundancies and fewer appointments.
