Online recruitment 'could help employers find skilled temps'

Online recruitment 'could help employers find skilled temps'
18.11.2008
Employers would do well to use online recruitment agencies to help them find the number of temporary workers who could bring valuable skills to a company, it has been claimed.
According to Contract Eye, although temporary and agency workers are often the first to lose their jobs when a company is put under financial strain, one expert believes they should not be over-looked because of this.
John Philpott, chief economist at the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development, said that although "temps and contract workers are more vulnerable" they are often "best able to seek out opportunities when the going gets tough".
He also highlighted that as the economy recovers, "contract staff will also be first in line to be hired" as "employers will at first be reluctant to recruit people on permanent contracts".
Other sectors that are currently defying the credit crunch are the credit and risk industries, with an increase being seen in the number of jobs advertised using online recruitment agencies, Onrec.com reports.
