Online recruitment 'helps protect against identity fraud dangers'
12.11.2008
Online recruitment websites are one way for job seekers to ensure that their CV is not being used by criminals to commit identity fraud, it has been claimed.
A recent experiment by one firm saw 107 people send their CV to a made-up business in response to a fake job advert in a newspaper.
If job seekers researched the position and went on to the organisation's website they would have seen that the vacancy was part of an experiment.
This has drawn attention to how easy it is for criminals to obtain CVs and then use the relevant information to commit identity fraud, the company conducting the research said.
Chief executive officer at iProfile.com Rick Bacon advised job seekers to use online recruitment sites when applying for roles.
"Stick to the established providers who invest in security and processes to protect your information online," he said.
Onrec.com also recently highlighted the need for a stand-out, constantly updated CV that will get employers' attention during the current jobs shortage.
