The number of job seekers using online recruitment in the UK is increasing, the Monster Employment Index has revealed today.

In Italy and France there were also gains for the industry, especially in the education and healthcare sectors where demand continued to be high.

Likewise, many legislators, senior officials and managers reported increased recruitment opportunities.

Overall, the index was up by three points in Europe, which gives positive signs that the online recruitment industry will continue to grow.

Hugo Sellert, head of economic research at the company, said: "We haven't seen a crash in demand after last month's financial turbulence."

He continued by saying that more companies are using the internet to advertise vacancies, demonstrated by the fact that online job availability continues to be higher than results for 2007.
