Recruitment 'still strong in public sector'

Recruitment 'still strong in public sector'
18.11.2008
Online recruitment agencies could see an increase in the number of employers from the public sector using their flat-fee recruitment services to hire staff, following claims that there are plenty of jobs available for such roles.
The Times reports that even though the private sector is making thousands of job cuts, schools, hospitals and military deployments are still offering employment opportunities.
Other vacancies come from the retail sector as many companies are looking to take on extra staff to cover the Christmas holidays.
The newspaper writes that the NHS has around 10,000 jobs on offer in the UK and not all of these require medical qualifications.
According to a spokesperson for NHS employers, there are "great opportunities for people who previously hadn't thought about a career in the public sector but have very transferable skills".
Last week Recruiter reported that the catering and industrial industries are also still recruiting short and medium-term staff.
