Nearly half of this year's UK students will become part-time employees while studying, a new poll suggests.
NatWest's annual survey showed that 42 per cent of 750,000 students questioned plan to take on part-time jobs to fund their degrees.
The decision to become job seekers while studying is influenced by a variety of factors, including location of a student's university and even the credit crunch, an advisor claims.
Mark Worthington, head of student banking at NatWest explained that "students are increasingly aware of the wider economic climate" and this has an impact upon "when they are choosing their university [and] deciding whether to take a job during term-time".
Various university locations were also examined in the poll, with Plymouth emerging as the cheapest place to study while Exeter was exposed as the most expensive.
Last month a report published by Universities UK suggested that an increase in fees and studying costs could lead to waning interest in undergraduate places and the closure of educational institutions.
