The Trafford Centre is increasingly using online recruitment techniques to fill vacant positions within its workforce, according to reports.

With the help of the Computers in Personnel (CIP) organisation, the shopping centre in Greater Manchester has been able to increase efficiency and reduce the administrative burden relating to its recruitment activities.

In fact, almost half of all the job applications new being received by the Trafford Centre come in via the internet and the shift towards online recruitment has enabled the retail site to establish a workforce with fewer costs, Personnel Today reports.

Christopher Berry, managing director of CIP, said: "It is more efficient to handle initial applications online and doing so means that the right candidates can be identified quickly to fill vacancies."

"This is a great time and money saver for organisations of any size."

It was recently revealed that almost three million people have visited the Trafford Centre's Barton Square wing since it was officially opened at the beginning of April.
