WH Smith launches online employee benefits site
4.11.2008
WH Smith is to use the internet to better communicate to its employees the perks being offered in the company's new benefits package, which it is inviting staff to help re-brand.
It is the first time the retailer has moved online in this way and it is hoped it will increase employee awareness of what is available to them, Employee Benefits writes.
Launching in January, the campaign will see a booklet and pocket-sized information card about the site sent to all 17,000 of the company's employees.
Jane Gosden, compensation, benefits and payroll manager, said: "This is something we have wanted to do for a long time. We have good core and voluntary benefits but have never before communicated these in a cohesive manner."
Previously, HR Zone reported on a survey by AIG UK which discovered that 45 per cent of employees did not think benefit packages were easy to understand, despite many managers thinking they had been explained clearly.
