The findings of a new survey suggest that UK businesses will be continuing to take on new workers in the coming months.

Figures compiled by Harris Interactive on behalf of CareerBuilder reveal that almost one-quarter of employers intend to take on more staff through online recruitment or otherwise.

The forecast for the third quarter follows something of a slump, with one-third of companies admitting that they had taken their foot off the recruitment pedal this year on account of economic pressures.

Tony Roy, managing director at the company, commented: "In a slower job market, employers shift focus and use the time to find the best possible talent available because it is more important than ever that employees perform and add value to the organisation."

A recent survey by Hays found that an increasing number of candidates in the UK are being given temporary positions, with permanent jobs showing a decline.
